8 Best Things To Do In Shenzhen By A Local! (2026)
1. Lianhuashan skyline 莲花山公园 - the panorama of Shenzhen
Why I find it special: The panoramic view at the top is unbelievable and well worth it! One of the best places to see the Shenzhen skyline.
It’s only a short hike. The park is one of my favourites!
How to get there: Line 3/4, Children’s Palace, Exit C1/E/F1

2. The majestic Gangxia North station 岗厦北站
Why I find it special: This is a huge station that is probably the most architecturally impressive in China. It gives futuristic vibes and connects 4 metro lines! I have it as a profile picture!
How to get there: Line 2/10/11/14, Gangxia North
3. Drone delivery
Why I find it special: This is something you have to experience for yourself. Much better than online videos.
How to get there: Line 13, Talent Park, Exit A/D. Head east and follow the signs to 人才公园.
The drone station is located at the south end of a circular square. You should see quite a few people hanging around it.

4. Skyscraper tour
Why I find it special: Shenzhen has the most skyscrapers over 200m tall in the world. This is one of the world’s tallest cities!
How to get there: See my DIY skyscraper tour in this article. There are skyscraper clusters in Futian, Nanshan, and Luohu districts.

5. Eating at a robot themed restaurant, like Orbit One
Why I find it special: A memorable experience. It was great fun seeing the saucers move from the kitchen to our table. The food was pretty great too!
How to get there: Line 1/14, Science Museum, Exit D - the mall is called “iN City Park 城市广场”
🤖 Don’t forget if you stay in a hotel with delivery robots (like this one), you can also get it to deliver food to your room
6. Visiting Electric Vehicle showrooms and electronics stores
Why I find it special: This is the city to experience it! Shenzhen is China’s tech city after all! I suggest going to One Avenue or Coco Park.
Check out brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, DJI flagship store (Line 9, Shenzhen Bay Park station, Exit E) (see this article for more!)
How to get there: One Avenue - Line 1/4, Convention and Exhibition Center, Exit A1; Coco Park - Line 1/3, Shopping Park
7. Taking a high speed train from Shenzhen North station (深圳北站)
Why I find it special: One of the biggest and busiest high speed rail stations in China. The scale of it is massive. You have to experience the efficiency of the station.
I suggest doing this when visiting Hong Kong or Guangzhou. As fast as 20 minutes to Hong Kong, 30 minutes to Guangzhou.
How to get there: Line 4/5/6, Shenzhen North
8. Taking a bus across the Shenzhen-Zhongshan sea bridge (深中通道)
Why I find it special: This is one of the world’s longest water crossings. It has a underwater tunnel and two cable-stayed bridges. Only opened in 2024! Seriously impressive!
How to get there: Private tour or call a DiDi.
