2. Towers of Vitality, Chengdu | 生机之塔

Why I find it special: Definitely looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. But it’s real and was even more impressive than I expected.

3. Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai | 东方明珠

Why I find it special: I still can’t believe it was built in 1994. If you ask me, it looks more like something from 2094. One of my favourite towers.

4. Shanghai Triplet | 上海三件套

Why I find it special: The most iconic trio in the world. My favourite is Shanghai Tower, with an elegant twist and the world’s highest observation deck, on the 121st floor.

5. Gangxia North Station, Shenzhen | 岗厦北站

Why I find it special: It’s mind-boggling that this is a metro station. The architecture is stunning. It connects 4 lines and is absolutely massive.

6. Canton Tower, Guangzhou | 广州塔

Why I find it special: world’s 2nd tallest TV tower, a twisting tower nicknamed “Slim Waist”.

7. CCTV Headquarters, Beijing | 中央电视总部

Why I find it special: The shape of this building bends my mind every time I look at it. It feels like it shouldn’t be scientifically possible.

8. DJI Headquarters | 大疆天空之城 + Vanke Cloud City | 云科技大厦, Shenzhen

Why I find it special: Two of the most futuristic looking buildings in China’s tech city. They’re right next to each other. Check them out at night for the lights!
